Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet

The Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet is a carrier-based multirole fighter and improved variant of the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. It has all the capabilities of the original Hornet as well as the optional capability to act as a tactical refuelling tanker. The aircraft was initially designed and flown by McDonnell Douglas, but production began after the merger with Boeing. It first entered service in 1999. A specialized electronic warfare variant, the EA-18G Growler, entered service in 2009.
