The Princess and the Pilot Movie

The Princess and the Pilot poster.

Animated Movie (2011)
Japanese title: とある飛空士への追憶

Starring:
Ryunosuke Kamiki (Charles Karino)
Seika Taketomi (Juana del Moral)

A pilot, despite being advised not to, bonds with a princess when he is tasked with escorting the royal subject overseas and across enemy territory to reunite her with her future husband.

Note: This is an animated work. The aircraft shown in it are therefore not actual aircraft. However, where a reasonable depiction of an actual aircraft has been created, it has been identified as best as possible.

"Santa Cruz" Reconnaissance Floatplane[]

The general shape (except the tail) is close to the single-seat Nakajima Ki-87, a Japanese high-altitude fighter-interceptor which made its maiden flight on April 1945.
Here the airframe has two seats (back to back) and (like the French SNCASE SE.100) the twin triangular tailfins (but they don't house the tail wheel).
Another difference with the Ki-87: the Nakajima prototype had a large turbo-supercharger only on the right side, while the Santa Cruz has two smaller ones, one on each side.
The most surprising gear is the taildragger undercarriage; unconventional in that the wheel could be replaced by floats (and vice versa!) during flight!

Kyushu J7W Shinden (modified)[]

Some specific differences between this model and the real prototypes: the different wing shape (double delta and inverted gull plan), the nose armament, the nearly "teardrop" canopy and the pusher propeller (a 8-bladed contra-rotating instead the real 6-bladed). The additional air intakes are also different.
